My Favourite 2014 Oscar Looks!

Lupita Nyong'o
The theme this year was definitely "less is more"...Most actresses opted for very subtle, understated beauty and barely there looks. While looking for some really detailed pictures of all the glamour, I came across this article on www.bellasugar.com which allows you to zoom in on all the leading ladies! All pictures here are from that article so if you want a warts and all extreme closeup view of the celebrities, then head over to Bella Sugar.

Apart from the Belle of the Ball, Ms Lupita Nyong'o (who will always win my top looks forever as she is so utterly stunning) Here are my three favourite looks from this years Academy Awards in reverse order!

3. Kerry Washington

I love everything about her makeup here. Her skin is flawless, the contour is subtle and blended to perfection and that lip colour was surely mixed just for her! Absolutely cannot fault it.  Kerry's makeup artist, Carola G used a deep burgundy lip colour topped with Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick in Rich Raisin.

2. Angelina Jolie-Pitt

Now at first Angelina was my top spot. Effortless, Hollywood glamour that just never ages. Then the more I looked at it, the more I wanted just a hint more colour. Literally a teeny splash of blush or pinkier nude on her lip. Its still absolutely flawless and as far as I am concerned she can do no wrong. Get the look with Illamasqua's Neutral palette and Mac Lipglass in C-Thru over Nars Honalulu Honey Lipstick. This look wouldnt be what it is without those incredible lashes, I personally love Eylure's Double Lash in 205

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand the winner is.......

1. Margot Robbie

The beautiful Wolf of Wall Street star dazzled us with her new chocolate brown locks at this years ceremony. Her entire look was a little bit Gothic and therefore totally up my street! Bravo on a brave lip choice and those amazing brows. I have included a picture of her look as a whole, so you can see just how fabulously it all worked together! Give it a try yourself with a mix of Illamasqua's lipsticks in ESP and Underworld and their Brow Cake in Gaze. Add extra shine to your dark tresses with my all time favourite, cant be beaten Tigi Bed Head Headrush Spray

Mini post- Making a foundation from scratch!

You just need some grease paints and a slight knowledge of colour theory. I used Make Up For Ever Flash Colours for this but Kryolan, Ben Nye and Grimas do brilliant versions.

1. Take small amounts of your primary colours. Red, yellow and blue plus small swatches of white and black.
2. Mix them all together so you get your base. It should look like mud!
3. Add more white or black depending on your skin shade.
4. Adjust with more yellow, blue or red depending on your undertones.

Voila! A custom made perfectly matched foundation or concealer for you or your client.
